Organized by the Ministry for Economy, Knowledge and Employment of the Canary IslandsGovernment, the agenda included a meeting with the President of the CanaryIslands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and visits to research centers and innovative sector companies in Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
During these days, Martorell highlighted the potential of the Canary Islands to participate in the PERTE Chip and how the work carried out in the islands complements what is being done in other regions of Spain.
On hisfirst day in Tenerife, the Special Commissioner met with the director of theInstituto Astrofísico de Canarias, Rael Rebolo, and visited the facilities ofcompanies such as Wootpix and the Arquimea laboratories. After his transfer toGran Canaria, Martorell toured the University Campus of the ULPGC, visiting theUniversity Institute of Applied Microelectronics (IUMA).
More than 60 companies will benefit from the 'Chip Missions' grants in collaboration with the CDTI.

The aid, totaling over 80 million euros from the Next Generation EU Funds, will be available at the end of the month.
